MDT
Where: Chautauqua Park, on the grass just east of the dining hall.

Event Description: Join us as we begin our 2-year pre-B’nai Mitzvah (middle school) preparatory class with an exciting outdoor hike into Chautauqua Park.
Our CTR Adventure Sundays is for 6th-7th graders who will be encouraged to seek deeper understanding of themselves and their community as they face physical challenges together. We meet on August 30th at 11 am, sharp, on the grass just east of the dining hall. Bring a lunch, some water, sunscreen, and get ready to go!
Pickup at 3 pm
Our first hike is an Awareness Hike -
In the beginning, "God looked into the Torah and created the world." - (Bereishit Rabbah 1:1). It has been said that Torah and the world parallel each other exactly- Torah is the spiritual core, the world is its physical expression...During our first hike, we will connect to the land of the local forest habitat, taking a closer look at local plant and animal species. From taking an ant's view of the forest floor to meditating among the trees, we will focus our minds and bodies on the rhythms of nature and relish in the opportunities to be amazed by the natural world. Participants will be guided by Jewish texts and values and their connection outdoor education, leadership development, and environmentalism. This will be an opportunity for the students to learn, grow, and learn in a fun dynamic and engaging environment.
About the Leader
Raj has called Colorado his home for 17 years. He has spent most of that time enjoying the great outdoors hiking, mountain biking, climbing, backpacking, snoe-shoeing, and whatever else crosses his path. For the past six years he has been a volunteer for the Adventure Rabbi as a hiking guide, and for Expand, an organization that runs activities for people with disabilities. Recently, Raj received a grant from 18 Pomegranates Foundation to become a Certified Jewish Environmental Educator. “I enjoy helping people find meaning, community, and inspiration on the trail.” Raj has an engaging and enthusiastic personality that enables him to connect with a diverse range of age groups in many settings. He believes the connection between spirituality, environmentalism, and the wilderness can be a positive force in our lives and he is looking forward to sharing in the experience.
Looking forward to seeing you on the grass east of Chataqua's dining hall on Sunday August 30th at 11 AM for a moderate hike for CTR students.
Don't forget hiking shoes, water, and a lunch!
Come meet us on the grass east of the Chataqua Dining Hall at 11 am - 3pm, for hiking learning and fun with other CTR participants!
